Australia Day Awards - Call for Nominations

Eurobodalla Shire Council is seeking nominations for the 2012 NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards program in the categories of Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Achievement and Sports Achievement Awards.

The Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the local community during the past year or over a number of years.

Nominees must be Australian citizens and reside in the Eurobodalla Shire at the time of nomination.

The Citizen of the Year Award recognises outstanding achievement or contribution to the Eurobodalla Shire community.

The Young Citizen of the Year Award recognises outstanding achievement or contribution to the community.  Nominees must be under the age of 26 on January 26 2012.

The Australia Day Achievement Award will be presented to someone who has achieved in his or her chosen field or worked tirelessly within their community.

The Australia Day Sports Achievement Award will be presented to someone who has enhanced sport in Eurobodalla and will take into account the nominee's sportsmanlike approach to his or her chosen sport, their contribution to the advancement of sport and their performance.

The Community Event of the Year Award recognises and encourages significant contributions to community life in the local area and is available to community groups of four or more people who perform a service to the community, raise funds for a community charity, event or project, conduct a successful project, event or activity or who bring recognition and credit to the community through a cultural, environmental or sporting achievement.


The Jeff Britten Award for the Pursuit of Excellence

In conjunction with the Australia Day Awards, Council will be making an award for the pursuit of excellence with a cash donation and a perpetual trophy.

Known as the Jeff Britten Award for the Pursuit of Excellence, this award will be given to a person or organisation who, in the opinion of the Council and the family of the late Jeff Britten, has performed some outstanding service to the community during the previous year or over a period of time.

Nominations for all awards will be received by the General Manager, Eurobodalla Shire Council, PO Box 99, Moruya 2537 or council@eurocoast.nsw.gov.au up until 4pm on Monday 21 November 2011.
