Current works

Completion timeframes of current works are subject to weather conditions.

We will make every effort to minimise disruptions to traffic, parking and pedestrians during work times.

To help work run as smoothly as possible, we ask pedestrians and motorists to follow any signage and traffic control measures.

Various streets and cul-de-sacs

Work: Resurfacing nine roads across Eurobodalla, including five cul-de-sacs.

Timeframe: June 2017

Contractors Downer will be resurfacing the following streets:

  • Batman Place in Batemans Bay
  • cul-de-sacs at the end of Anderson Street, Jeffery Place, Cheddar Street and Flanagan Place in Moruya
  • Native Way in South Head
  • Payne Street, Surf Beach car park and the intersection of Canty Street and the highway in Narooma.

The work will take half a day to a day in each location. The road surface is trafficable again straight away.

Weather permitting, the Canty Street work will take place on Thursday 8 June 2017 and motorists are asked to note that on-street parking south-west of the highway intersection will be disrupted. The bus stop will be temporarily moved for the day, adjacent to the traffic lights.

Residents living in the programmed streets will receive a notification from Downer in their letterbox one week prior to work starting.

Batemans Bay, Beach Road

Work: Reconstructing Beach Road from the Country Club Drive traffic lights south for approximately 80 metres.

Timeframe: 15 May to 30 June 2017

These works involve widening the pavement, upgrading drainage, renewing the kerb and gutter and installing a culvert along this section of Beach Road. The works complement the recent construction of the roundabout at the intersection of Beach Road and Hanging Rock Place and associated road reconstruction.

Works involve both daytime operations between 7am and 4pm and night works from 7pm to 7am.

For the duration of the works, Beach Road will be reduced to two lanes, one lane of traffic in each direction. When nightworks are underway, Beach Road will be further reduced to one lane in total. Delays should be expected.

Bus stops on Beach Road south of the Country Club Drive intersection for northbound buses and directly north of the intersection for southbound buses will be closed for the duration of the works. The nearest alternative bus stops are in front of The Manor for northbound buses, and 10 metres south of Birdland Animal Park for southbound buses.

Lane closures will likely cause traffic delays and loss of parking spaces in Orient Street. Motorists in Orient Street Batemans Bay should look out for changed road conditions from Friday 16 June when the new raised pedestrian crossing opens to traffic. Pedestrians will be able to use the new crossing, located near The Bakehouse, from late the following week once construction is complete. The existing pedestrian crossing near the Post Office will then be removed.
