Current works

Completion timeframes of current works listed below are subject to weather conditions.

We will make every effort to minimise disruptions to traffic, parking and pedestrians during work times.

To help work run as smoothly as possible, we ask pedestrians and motorists to follow any signage and traffic control measures.

Road works

Catalina, George Bass Drive and Glenella Road

Work: Construction of a roundabout on George Bass Drive at Glenella Road intersection.

Timeframe:   January to June 2018

Construction of the new roundabout is nearing completion.  As at early June 2018, traffic conditions are:

  • Heron Road is open to traffic.
  • Glenella Road between Heron Road and The Ridge Road is closed.
  • Glenella Road between Heron Road and Curtis Road is now sealed and open to traffic.
  • Glenella Road between George Bass Drive and Curtis Road will be open for eastbound traffic after 12 June 2018.  Traffic will be diverted onto the new roundabout around that time.

Motorists will experience minor travel delays until the completion of the project.

These works are part of the major project constructing the south Batemans Bay link road joining George Bass Drive with the Princes Highway.  This link road's name is now officially gazetted as Glenella Road.

Hanging Rock, Library Car Park

Work: The car park adjacent to Batemans Bay Library at Hanging Rock is being upgraded.

Access to the car park will be restricted at various times during the works and traffic control will be in place. Users will notice throughout the construction period part of the car park will be closed. While the car park may continue to be used in a reduced capacity there will be short periods where it will be closed completely.

In the event the car park is completely closed, users will be required to park along Hanging Rock Place.  Pedestrian access will continue to be available at all times and any road closures will be signposted.

Timeframe:  12 March 2018 to 4 May 2018.

Long Beach, Cullendulla Drive

Work: Stage 1 involves widening the culvert near the intersection of the Princes Highway. When completed, we will then widen the culvert near the intersection of Kettle Road. This work is mainly off-road, so motorists may experience only minimal disruptions to traffic flow.

Stage 2 involves widening 800m of Cullendulla Drive from the intersections with the Princes Highway and Kettle Road. During this work, one traffic lane will be closed and motorists should allow for extra travel times.

When completed, these road safety improvements along the 800m section of Cullendulla Drive will have two 3.5-metre wide traffic lanes with a 2-metre wide shoulder of both sides.

This project is funded by the Australian government's Bridges Renewal Program ($202,021), the State government's Restart NSW Program ($668,204) and Council's Capital Works Program ($385,400).

Timeframe: 19 April to the end of August 2018, weather permitting.

The provision of clear zones will require minor tree removal in some areas. The work also involves kerb installation and earthworks to widen the batter. Raised pavement markers, centre and edge linemarking, and new signage will complete the road safety improvements.

The section of Tomakin Road to be upgraded commences approximately 300m west of the intersection with Dunns Creek Road and will extend for approximately 300m in a westerly direction.

Traffic control measures will be in place and motorists will experience minor delays.

This project is funded by the Australian Government's Blackspot Program.

Catalina, Beach Road

Work:  Extensive reconstruction works along a 180m section of Beach Road between Birdland and The Manor Retirement Village.  The project involves subsurface stabilisation of the road; reconstruction of the footpaths, kerb and guttering on both sides of the road; drainage improvements and a new road surafce.

Beach Road will be under traffic control between the roundabout at Hanging Rock and Joes Creek where a 40km/h speed limit will be in place.  Motorists should allow for extra travel time as lane closures will occur and the road surface will be gravel for long periods of time.

Night works are also planned to minimise impact on road users during the day.  Extra care is needed when travelling at night as four lanes will be reduced to one lane and traffic control measures will be in place.

Access to properties will not be affected.  The bus stop outside The Manor will be closed.

Timeframe: Starting 12 June 2018 and finishing 27 July 2018.
