Current works

Completion timeframes of current works listed below are subject to weather conditions.

We will make every effort to minimise disruptions to traffic, parking and pedestrians during work times.

To help work run as smoothly as possible, we ask pedestrians and motorists to follow any signage and traffic control measures.

Road works

Shirewide, road resealing

Work: Road resealing, various locations.

Timeframe: 8 November to 22 December 2017

This is the first part of the Shirewide resealing program that will be staged over the next six months. Motorists may experience minor delays.

Shire-wide roadside weed spraying

Work: Spraying weeds along roadsides with the herbicides Brush-Off and Roundup.

Timeframe: 11 to 22 December 2017

This maintenance during active growing times to reduce the risk of new or regrowth of weeds, shrubs and trees close to the road that could potentially damage the road pavements. Approximately 570km of roadsides will be treated, including the Kings Highway. If delayed by rain, the works will be completed from mid-January.

Batehaven, Corrigans Beach Reserve car park

Work: Formalising the car park located between the inclusive playground and the beach.

Timeframe: 8 November to 20 December 2017

The informal car park will be closed for the duration of the works to allow for a full reconstruction. These works will involve the installation of stormwater drainage, kerb and gutter and a new road surface.

Batemans Bay, Mackay Park

Work: Rebuilding the two rugby league fields at Mackay Park.

Timeframe: 2 October 2017 to February 2018.

Earthworks will reshape the fields so they drain off to each of the corners, making for a more durable and level playing surface.The smaller field will then be enlarged to regulation-size and both fields will surfaced with new turf.

The Mackay Park helipad is closed for the duration of the works. The alternative helipad is located at the Hanging Rock sporting precinct.

Bodalla, Eurobodalla Road

Work: Road safety improvements affecting approximately 3.4km of Eurobodalla Road, starting from 600 metres west of the Princes Highway.

Timeframe: 20 November 2017 to 30 March 2018.

Some vegetation will be removed to provide wider clear zones along the road and we will be establishing wider, sealed roadside shoulders. We will also be installing a number of roadside safety barriers and adjusting stormwater drainage as necessary.

Traffic control will be in place between 7am and 6pm on week days during the works and minor delays should be expected. Works will stop for a number of weeks over the Christmas holiday period.

Bodalla, Tyrone Bridge

Work: Replace the existing timber bridge with an 86m single lane concrete bridge.

Timeframe: 14 July 2017 to June 2018.

Tyrone Bridge is on Nerrigundah Mountain Road just west of the intersection with Eurobodalla Road, approximately 9km west of Bodalla. The new bridge is being built adjacent to the existing bridge (downstream) and traffic will be able to continue using the existing bridge throughout the construction process.

Catalina, Glenella Road

Work: Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Glenella Road and George Bass Drive. 

Timeframe: November to 22 December 2017 and January to June 2018

Glenella Road will be closed at the intersection with George Bass Drive for roundabout formation works from 27 November until just prior to Christmas. Works will then cease for a number of weeks and the road will be re-opened. This section of Glenella Road will be closed again when works recommence after Australia Day.

While the closure is in place we request that motorists detour via Curtis Road and Crosby Drive.

Disruptions on George Bass Drive before the Christmas break will be limited to reduced speed limits and occasional lane closures with traffic control in place. After Christmas, motorists will experience increased impacts of the roundabout construction, including additional traffic control measures and unsealed road surfaces.

These works are part of the major project constructing the South Batemans Bay link road joining George Bass Drive with the Princes Highway.

Moruya, Araluen Road

Work: Clearing and road safety works approximately 25km north of Moruya.

Timeframe: 13 to 22 December 2017

These clearing and road safety works are required after a rock fall. Motorists should expect up to 25 minute delays.

Moruya, Russ Martin Park

Work: Constructing a fishing platform from the shared pathway near the rotunda, extending over the Moruya River.

Timeframe: 4 to 22 December 2017

Narooma, Narooma Flat

Work: Water mains renewals throughout the Narooma Flat area.

Timeframe: 26 June to 15 December 2017

The water main renewals will take place on Burrawang Street, Graham Street, Field Street, Barker Parade,  Lynch Street, Brice Street, Hyland Avenue, Riverside Drive and McMillan Road.

The work involves digging a trench adjacent to the existing water main, laying new pipe and installing the residential service connections.

Most of the work will take place on the nature strip or road shoulder, but the work will cause some disturbance to driveways and landscaping. Council’s work crews will rectify any impacts as construction proceeds.

All efforts will be made to limit disturbance on residents, but there will be instances where water supply will be turned off to enable commissioning of the new water main. During this time residents may have low water pressure or no water supply. Directly affected residents will be notified by letter of any supply outages.

Runnyford, Runnyford Bridge

Work: Replacing the existing bridge with a similar structure.

Timeframe: 20 March 2017 to 31 January 2017

Runnyford Road will be closed from the western side of Runnyford Bridge to Mays Road while we demolish and replace the bridge.

There will be no access across the Buckenbowra River for the duration of the work.

Surf Beach, Beach Road

Work: Pavement rehabilitation to refresh and repair the road surface on Beach Road from Surf Beach Avenue to Explorers Way.

Timeframe: 16 October to 8 December 2017

Traffic control will be in place when works are underway, and at least one lane will be closed during works. Short term full road closures of up to 20 minutes at a time may also occur. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time or use alternative routes where possible.

Surf Beach, Explorers Way

Work: Pavement rehabilitation to refresh and repair the road surface on Explorers Way for approximately 200 metres west.

Timeframe: 16 October to 15 December 2017

Tuross Head, Andrew Avenue

Work: Upgrading the stormwater system and rehabilitating the road surface along the full length of Andrew Avenue in Tuross Head.

Timeframe: 18 September 2017 to 19 December 2017

Andrew Avenue will be open to residents only between 7am and 4pm for the duration of the works.

Tuross Head, Bream Street

Work: Renewal of water mains and full street reconstruction.

Timeframe: 28 August to 22 December 2017

Bream Street will be open to residents only between 7am and 4pm for the duration of the street reconstruction works from 18 September.

Rectification of disturbances caused by water mains renewals will be performed during the street reconstruction.
