General Manager’s contract extended

Eurobodalla Shire Councillors gave Dr Catherine Dale a resounding endorsement at today’s Council meeting when the results of her annual performance review and an extension of her contract were voted on.

Dr Dale’s contract as General Manager has been extended for five years, commencing from 1 July 2017.  

Clr Liz Innes said that today’s vote acknowledged Dr Dale’s outstanding achievements against the nine key performance indicators she was assessed on.

“We are extremely lucky to have a general manager of Dr Dale’s experience,” Mayor Innes said.

“Today’s decision leaves no doubt that this Council absolutely backs Dr Dale as the general manager we want to lead this organisation.

“Councillors are very clear about what we want to achieve for our community and Dr Dale’s extensive management and leadership experience will help us deliver those outcomes.”

“Dr Dale has a proven track record of sound financial and organisational management, driving cultural change and implementing efficiencies and robust processes.  

“The extension of Dr Dale’s contract will provide our community with confidence that the leadership of the organisation is in good hands.”  

Dr Dale said she was looking forward to continuing to manage significant projects including the redevelopment of the Batemans Bay Mackay Park precinct, the southern water storage facility, developing the Moruya Library as a centre of excellence for arts and culture, the expansion of Moruya Airport and the implementation of a new information technology system.  

“The past four years have been a challenging time for local government in NSW.

“Changes around council mergers and the legislative framework we are required to operate in have taken their toll on many communities,” she said.

“I’m proud I’ve been able to guide the organisation through this and achieve a strong financial position while continuing to deliver the important services our community needs without disruption.”

“I will continue to build on our achievements and strive for a culture of excellent customer service, continuous improvement, innovation and economic development and effective advocacy for the community.

“I am proud to be reappointed as General Manager. We have a great Council, a great staff team and a great future,” said Dr Dale.

A review panel comprising all nine councillors assisted by an independent facilitator assessed the General Manager against nine areas of governance, organisation leadership, community relations and communications, financial sustainability and budgeting processes, asset management, land use planning and applications, business development and tourism, community services, and risk management.
