Get on your bike for community ride
Monday 4 September 2017
Saddle up for a wheely good time at the Eurobodalla Community Bike Ride on Sunday 17 September.
The bike ride aims to bring together all ages and skill levels to celebrate cycling during NSW Bike Week.
Registration is at the Broulee Surfers Surf Life Saving Club on Heath Street, Broulee, from 9am, with a 10am departure. There are two rides to choose from – a 4km ride along the sealed shared pathway to Candlagan Creek bridge and back and a 13km return ride along the gravel Bengello bike track to Moruya Airport.
All riders will receive Bike Week giveaways, there will be free bike safety checks on the day, and refreshments will be available from the South Brou Café before and after the ride.
Council’s Road Safety Officer Kate McDougall said it followed the success of last year’s ride, which marked the opening of an extension to the Broulee to North Head shared pathway.
“Last year’s community bike ride was a huge success, with people of all ages taking part,” she said.
“The idea is that you can ride at your own pace and enjoy what Eurobodalla’s shared pathways have to offer.
“We’re hoping this year will be even bigger and better, with more people hopping on their bike and discovering a love of cycling.
“It’s a fantastic free mode of transport that is good for you and the environment.”
The Eurobodalla Community Bike Ride is supported by the Eurobodalla Bike Users Group (EuroBUG).
All riders must wear a helmet, and children 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
