In the swim

Tuesday 3 October 2017

Moruya and Batemans Bay swimming centres will open for the 2017-18 season on Monday (9 October), with the popular learn-to-swim classes kicking off the week after.

Following last year’s introduction of extended swimming pool hours, all three Eurobodalla pools will again open at times designed to better suit local workers and families.

Eurobodalla Council’s Recreation Manager Mark Upson says the 2017/18 swimming season will collectively offer more than 220 additional opening hours at the three community pools compared to previous years.

“The new operating hours will see the pools opening until 7.00pm on some evenings, with extended hours throughout the main December-January holiday periods.

“We’ve also shifted the start of the season forward a few weeks so that we can keep the pools open until the end of April 2018 to cover the school holidays when the days are still warm.

“These changes are a direct result of feedback from the community last year.

“At Narooma indoor pool, which is open year-round, we’ve adopted new operating hours better suited to the majority of local users there.”

Mr Upson says Council’s pool managers plan to host a range of special events in October at all three pools to kick off 2017/18 swim season.

“Learn to swim classes and other aquatic programs will commence at Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay pools from Monday 16 October and bookings open at each pool on Monday 9 October. Drop in or give the staff a call,” Mr Upson said.
