Roadworks to begin on Beach Road
Monday 4 June 2018
Eurobodalla Council will begin work to improve a 180-metre section of Beach Road at Batehaven, starting Tuesday 12 June, after the long weekend.
The work extends from the Hanging Rock roundabout, past Birdland to The Manor aged care facility.
The road will be widened and new kerb and guttering and drainage installed, continuing similar road work completed in the area last year.
The road surface will be replaced with asphaltic concrete, which Council says is a stronger and more durable for busy roads like Beach Road.
A combination of night and day work will be used to complete the seven-week project.
During the day, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. At night, the road will be reduced to one lane with traffic control measures in place.
The bus stop outside The Manor will be closed for the duration of the project, and the footpath outside The Manor might also be closed at times while the work is underway.
Access to the Birdland and Edwards Constructions driveways will be limited and under traffic control for most of the project.
Nearby residents, facilities, schools and Hanging Rock user groups have received a letter from Council explaining the works.
Council encourages motorists to allow extra time when travelling through the area, with delays expected. Motorists are also asked to take extra care around the work and to follow traffic control and speed limit signs.
The work has been scheduled over the quieter winter period when traffic volumes are lower to minimise impacts to motorists.
