About the Divisional Manager Works

Tony Swallow

As Divisional Manager, Tony is responsible for the following operational areas:

  • maintenance of Council's road assets
  • maintenance of Council's marine assets (boat ramps and sea walls)
  • maintenance of Council's parks and gardens assets
  • delivery of Councils capital works program in roads, marine assets and parks and gardens
  • Council operated quarrying activities.

In total, there are 102 positions (including full time and part time) in Council’s Works division.

Employment experience

Tony began his role as Eurobodalla Shire Council's Divisional Manager,  Works in December 2014.

Tony has over 10 years’ experience in the field of Civil Engineering, starting his career in 2005 as a graduate engineer working on the state highway network in Western Australia, moving onto a number of roles in both consulting and contracting. Tony has worked in local government since starting as the works engineer for the Upper Hunter Shire council in May 2010.

Qualifications

Tony completed a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Western Australia in 2005. Tony has gone on to do significant job-specific training in pavement design, sealing works, WH&S, Bridge Maintenance and project management.

Tony is currently to completing a Professional Certificate in Asset Management.

Community

Tony is a member of the NSW Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA). Tony has also participated in numerous initiatives to assist the education of secondary school students, showcasing and encouraging engineering as a career path.
