Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre
Council is planning a new Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre on the southern end of the Mackay Park site in Batemans Bay. What do you think? In January and February 2019, we are seeking community feedback on three different concept layouts for the centre.

Cost: $1.6m - from the special rate variation, paid parking income, and extra funds from 2016-17 budget to lift and resurface the road Details We have upgraded and revitalised the Batemans Bay town centre to enhance outdoor dining and social spaces and encourage business development.

Batemans Bay Vision and Growth Project
Batemans Bay is the principal commercial centre in the Eurobodalla Shire and is a key destination for residents and visitors to the area. It is therefore critical that the town functions well, is open for business and is an attractive place to visit. Beach Road, Batemans Bay CBD Upgrade
Project: Upgrading of Beach Road from the intersection with Vesper Street (Princes Highway) to Orient Street in Batemans Bay CBD.
Cost: $3 million funded by the Australian government's Building Our Future program.

Bodalla Sewerage Scheme
Project: Provide a reticulated pressure sewer scheme to service approximately 150 lots in Bodalla.
Start: Financial Year 2015-16
Expected completion: Financial Year 2018-19
Estimated Construction Cost: $10 million Details Council is installing a pressure sewerage system to service Bodalla and constructing a new sewage treatment plant on Potato Point Road. This system will replace the existing on-site sewage management systems, significantly reducing the risk of harm to the environment and public health.

Cullendulla Sewer Rising Main Realignment
Project: Realignment of the existing sewer rising main from Long Beach to Surfside
Cost: $3.178 million (awarded contract price) included in our 2018-19 Capital Program
Timeframe: September 2018 to March 2019
Details The project involves installing a sewer rising main beneath Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve from Long Beach to Surfside.
The pipeline will replace the existing sewer pipe that has become exposed on Cullendulla Beach due to encroaching seas.
The new pipe will be located inland, safely away from the shoreline, and pass deep beneath Cullendulla Creek.

Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden facility redevelopment
Project: enhance and expand the Botanic Garden facilities, including redeveloping the Visitor Centre and completing the on-site Plant Science Precinct.
Start: August 2018
Expected completion: construction and fitouts will be completed in December 2019, with final items such as landscaping, signage and sealing the car park to be completed before the end of March 2020.

Flying-fox management plan
Project: Developing a shire-wide flying fox management plan to set out how Council will make future decisions about the managing impacts of flying foxes in the short and longer term. Details We’re developing a shire-wide management plan for flying foxes and we’re encouraging everyone to get involved.
The plan will allow us to more readily respond and help residents who may be impacted by flying foxes in the future, while conserving the threatened species and their local habitats.

Moruya Airport upgrade
Moruya Airport will be closed to all flights from 14 February to 6 March 2019. The airport will be closed for three weeks to upgrade the runway.
Council staff and sub-contractors will work seven days a week to ensure necessary improvements to the main runway and tie-in to the shorter east-west runway are finished as quickly as possible.
Airport businesses have been notified and all Rex Airlines flights have been cancelled between 14 February and 6 March inclusive. Customers can contact Rex Air Customer Contact Centre on 13 17 13 for flight information.

Funding secured: $1.5 million Details We are expanding Moruya Library to construct a professional-standard exhibition space, a larger library and public meeting spaces for learning and business activities.

Moruya Quarry Park landscape upgrade
Project: Staged upgrade to picnic areas, carparks and landscaping of Moruya Quarry Park
Start: March 2015
Completion: Officially re-opened on 11 March 2017
Cost: $567,000
Moruya Quarry Park is on the northern bank of the Moruya River, approximately 5km from Moruya.
Moruya Rotary Club established the park next to the historic Moruya Quarry over 30 years ago. The quarry is an important part of Moruya's history, dating back to the early years of settlement. Granite from the quarry was used to construct the Sydney Harbour Bridge and other iconic Australian buildings.

Moruya Shellfish Hatchery
Project: Build a shellfish hatchery to contribute to ongoing, reliable supply of oyster and mussel spat.
Timing: Late 2018 to mid 2020.
Funding: grant funded under the Australian Government’s Regional Jobs and Investment Package. Council is seeking tenders for construction, and will be able to confirm project costs once the tender process is finalised. Nelligen Boat Ramp Car Park
Project: Constructing an additional car park at the Wharf Street Boat Ramp in Nelligen
Funding: A $160,000 grant through the NSW State Government Boating Now funding program
Timeframe: Completion is expected within the 2018-2019 financial year

Potato Point Sewerage Scheme
Project: Provide a reticulated pressure sewerage scheme to service 164 lots in Potato Point.
Funding: A $3.22 million grant from the NSW State Government
Start: Financial Year 2017-18

Rural Lands Strategy
The Rural Lands Strategy was first initiated in 2012, as Council sought to investigate the issues and opportunities surrounding rural areas in the Eurobodalla Shire.
The purpose of the Strategy has been to encourage a vibrant commercial agriculture sector, increase rural living opportunities and support the growth of rural business opportunities, including tourism. At the same time the Strategy seeks to balance the rural economic outcomes with the requirements to conserve the biodiversity and landscape qualities of the shire’s private lands.

South Batemans Bay link road
Project: Construct a 2.2km road to link George Bass Drive to the Princes Highway and extend Heron Road.
Start: Financial Year 2013-14
Cost: $10m NSW Government funding Details The South Batemans Bay link road will connect the Princes Highway and George Bass Drive at Batehaven. Heron Road in Catalina will also be extended to join the new link road as part of this project.
The roads will provide an alternative route for traffic to bypass the Batemans Bay CBD and Beach Road and will deliver significant and much needed relief to congestion and amenity issues.

Project: Upgrade the Durras Lake boat ramp and car park.

Funding: Council has obtained a $225,000 grant through the NSW State Government Boating Now funding program.
Details Stage 1 - Boat ramp Construction: June-July 2017
We have removed the old concrete boat ramp and replaced it with a similar sized single-lane structure, improving safety and access for all users.

South Head Road Shared Pathway
Project: An off-road shared pathway along South Head Road from Moruya to Moruya Heads
Funding: This project is being funded via a $750,000 grant provided by the NSW Roads & Maritime Services under the Active Transport Program. Based on the agreement with Roads and Maritime Services, the funding is notionally to be spent across 2017-18 ($300,000) and 2018-19 ($450,000). Details The project seeks to construct a 2.5m wide concrete shared pathway adjacent to South Head Road, connecting the existing pathways in Moruya and Moruya Heads.

Project: Proposal for a second water storage facility for Eurobodalla in the southern part of the shire.
Start: September 2016

Surf Beach employment lands
Council owns land adjacent to Surf Beach which is zoned 'B5 - Business Development'. The purpose of this zoning is to enable the establishment of a business, technology, bulky goods and light industrial precinct.
Council is currently reviewing interest in the area and its options for what to do with the land in the future. This includes looking for funding to provide services to the site to enhance its appeal as a site for businesses.

Tomakin Road and George Bass Drive roundabout
Project: Construction of a four-leg roundabout at the George Bass Drive and Tomakin Road intersection providing a new entrance road into Tomakin village.
Cost: $3.5 million, funded by the Australian Government’s Federal Election Commitment Program.
Timeframe: The project began in June 2018 and is expected to be completed within the 2018-19 financial year. Project: Replace the Tyrone Bridge with a concrete structure.

Funding: $1.25m from NSW Government Fixing Country Roads program and $1.25m from the Australian Government Bridges Renewal Program. Details Tyrone Bridge is on Nerrigundah Mountain Road just west of the intersection with Eurobodalla Road, approximately 9km west of Bodalla.  The current bridge is a single lane timber bridge and spans 83m across the Tuross River.
