Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21

Closing date for submissions: Tuesday 6 June 2017

Council staff have worked with an independent consultant to develop the draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21. This Plan is required under the Disability Inclusion Act 2014, and is aimed at improving opportunities for people with disability living in and visiting Eurobodalla Shire.

Local government has a key role in promoting the rights of people with disability and the value of diversity and inclusion in our community. However, making communities more liveable and inclusive is not just a Council responsibility. Everyone has a role to play.

Extensive engagement with targeted groups, as well as community members, has allowed Council to access a variety of information. This has ensured the Plan will take into consideration the feedback given by businesses and community members, as well as people with disability and their carers. Feedback was given through online surveys  and Group consultations.

Council endorsed the draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21 for public exhibition at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 9 May 2017.

The draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21 will be on exhibition until Tuesday 6 June 2017 at which time submissions will close.

All submissions from the community will be reported to Council for consideration before the adoption of the final Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21.

You can download a copy of the draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-21 below and copies are available at Council’s customer service centre at Moruya and at the Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma libraries.
