Improving community and recreation facilities

Council provides a range of facilities for sporting, recreation and community groups to enjoy. These include sports grounds, parks, clubhouses, halls and amenities.
This page provides guidance for working with us to ensure the facilities you use continue to meet community needs now and in the future.

How does Council make decisions about facilities?

The Recreation and Open Space Strategy, Masterplans and other strategic documents help us set the priorities and manage our budget for maintaining and improving recreation services and facilities. Our facilities management team takes care of sports venues, halls and public toilets across the shire to ensure they are in good condition, safe and fit for purpose.

Your say in recreation planning

We encourage sporting, recreation and community groups to get involved in our public submission and engagement processes. Your input will help us manage and improve the venues and facilities that matter to you.  You can subscribe to Recreation Matters or attend our Sports Forum to stay up to date.

Request improvements

At times we receive community requests for approval or assistance to develop infrastructure at specific facilities. The Recreation Services team can explain what is involved and may be able to help you identify grant funding for your project. Find out more about making a request.
