Northern Water Treatment Plant
The need for additional water treatment for the Eurobodalla
Shire was identified in the Integrated Water Cycle Management
Strategy (IWCM Strategy) developed by Eurobodalla Shire Council in
2003.
This year will see the commencement of this major infrastructure
project, which will provide the Shire with a secure and safe
drinking water supply.
A contract for the construction of the Northern Water Treatment
Plant (WTP) was awarded to Water Infrastructure Group (WIG) on 4
August 2009.
A site adjacent to Denhams Beach Reservoir in the Mogo Forest
has been selected to construct the new WTP. The WTP shall have a
capacity of 20 ML/d at this stage (Stage 1) with provisions to
upgrade to 30 ML/d in the future (Stage 2).
Onsite construction work is set to commence in late September
2009 and the treatment plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the
latter part of 2010.
The following links show the overall site location, layout and
design of the water treatment plant and 3D representations of what
the buildings will look like.

Significant financial support has been provided by the Federal
Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, as
part of the Water Smart Australia Program, who have provided a $15M
grant for the pipeline and treatment plant projects. The NSW Public
Works are acting as contract managers for Council on this
project.
