Disability Access Action Plan
The Eurobodalla Disability Action Plan 2006 – 2011 was developed by drawing on research, public consultations and a resident survey. Council staff and Council’s Action Plan Access Committee (APAC) were involved in preparing the plan.
Residents and Council staff identified over 160 access issues and suggestions during the two public consultations held this year.
There are seven major organisational directions in the plan.
- improve the community’s understanding and attitudes towards people with a disability
- provide equitable access to community information
- make Council facilities as accessible as possible
- ensure equitable access to services for eligible people
- plan and design settlements and facilities to meet the needs of all of the community
- demonstrate equal employment leadership
- recognise the financial status of people with a disability.
Positive changes are already happening with improvements to footpaths, signage, pool hoists, beach access and the installation of an audio loop in the Council Chambers.
