Upgrades to meet growing demand

Captain Oldrey Park in Broulee is home to Eurobodalla’s regional netball facility with courts, amenities and spectator viewing all upgraded in 2021.

In June 2021 Council completed work on eight acrylic courts with $475,000 grant funding from the Australian Sports Commission’s Community Sport Infrastructure fund.  The two additional courts, new acrylic surface to all courts and inclusion of two dual-use netball/basketball courts, is helping meet growing demand in this popular sport and to provide for multiple sport use.

The new courts complete a broader project including new dedicated female change rooms, accessible toilet, improved pathways and parking, a covered viewing area and additional spectator seating and landscaping.

The netball court at Bill Smyth Oval in Narooma will get its upgrade before the end of the year when we will be relocating the court closer to the amenities building.  The new synthetic court will have fencing and lighting.  We will be restoring the existing court site as a green space including some revegetation and signage recognising the adjoining Aboriginal Heritage Conservation Area.
