Aboriginal Transport Project

With funding from Transport for NSW, Ageing Disability and Home Care, we are working to identify and assess transport issues, gaps and barriers Aboriginal community members experience, and improve transport availability.

This project will positively impact the quality of life for transport disadvantaged, Commonwealth and Home Support Program (CHSP) and eligible Aboriginal residents in Eurobodalla. This includes older people and their carers.

The Aboriginal Transport Development Project is hosted by Eurobodalla Shire Council and will link with existing resources and organisations, such as Council's Community Transport, Aboriginal Home Care, and Katungul Aboriginal Medical Service to improve transport coordination between existing services for the benefit of community members.

Although shire wide in focus, the project has the potential to link to Council projects and activities at Wallaga Lake as well as existing Community Care programs and Youth service activities, with the aim of increasing social, medical, employment and educational transport opportunities that will have social, health and economic benefits.
