Water saving incentive scheme

Water is a precious resource that we can all help conserve. By saving water in your home or business, you save money on your utility bill and minimise the effects of drought and water shortages.

Conserving water also prevents greenhouse gas emissions associated with treating and distributing water.

Council encourages residents to be more water-efficient. One way to save water in your home or business is to upgrade your existing fixtures to water-efficient fixtures. Council offers a range of rebates and incentives that will help you to achieve this.

Below you will find information about Council's incentives on offer to Eurobodalla Shire residents.

What Council incentives are on offer?

Washing machine rebate

Council offers a $150 rebate to Eurobodalla water customers when they:

  1. buy an approved 4.5 star or higher WELS (Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme) rated washing machine
  2. submit a completed application form together with:
    1. an original receipt or proof of purchase that shows the brand, make and model number of the machine
    2. a copy of your water bill (and if renting, proof of residence at the address).

By installing a water-efficient washing machine, you can reduce your water and energy bills. A water-efficient rated washing machine uses less than half the amount of water of an inefficient machine. This will save an average household approximately 20,000 litres of water a year.

Dual flush toilet rebate

Council offers a $100 rebate to Eurobodalla water customers when they:

  1. buy any 4 star or higher WELS rated toilet
  2. have the toilet installed by a licensed plumber
  3. use it to replace an existing single flush toilet
  4. submit a completed application form together with:
    1. an original receipt for the purchase and installation of your toilet (ensure the receipts show the brand and model of the toilet installed)
    2. a copy of your water bill.

You can claim up to two rebates per residential property.

Replacing a single flush toilet with a water-efficient dual flush toilet has other benefits. Improving your home's water efficiency can reduce your water bill and the impact on the environment.

A 4 star water efficient rated toilet uses less than a third of the amount of water of old single flush toilets. This will save an average house around 30,000 litres of water a year.

Showerhead exchange program

Upgrading an inefficient showerhead can save a typical household over $400 per year in energy and hot water costs*.

Council has a showerhead exchange program to help water customers to save water. If you bring in your old, inefficient showerhead, Council will replace it with a high quality 3 star WELS rated water-efficient showerhead.

You are eligible for the program if your property is:

  1. located in Eurobodalla Shire, and
  2. supplied by Council's water mains system.

You can claim up to two showerheads, however, if you are a business or organisation, you can claim up to eight showerheads.

*Based on a two-person household x five-minute showers per day with an electric storage hot water system, installing a 3 star WELS rated showerhead.
