Current works

Completion timeframes of current works are subject to weather conditions.

We will make every effort to minimise disruptions to traffic, parking and pedestrians during work times.

To help work run as smoothly as possible, we ask pedestrians and motorists to follow any signage and traffic control measures.

Shire-wide, bridges

What: Repairing or rebuilding bridges affected by bushfire and floods.

Some bridges will be repaired or replaced with timber while others are being rebuilt using concrete.

Why: To provide safe access to all communities.

When: January 2020 until works are complete

Shire-wide, rural roads

What: Maintenance grading and gravel re-sheeting various unsealed roads in the shire.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters may experience short delays.

Why: To maintain the roads to a reasonable level.

When: From July 2020 to June 2021

Shire-wide, weed spraying

What: Spraying urban and rural roadsides, including the Kings Highway, to control the growth of woody weeds, shrubs and trees.

Metsulfuron (Brush-Off) and Glyphosate (Roundup) will be used.

Why: The spraying will reduce hazards caused by tree and shrub growth and help protect road pavements from tree root damage.

Commuters are asked to take care around slow-moving spraying vehicles.

When: November to December 2020, weather permitting.

Batemans Bay, Beach Road

What: Rebuilding the road and pathways between Club Catalina and Batemans Bay Marina.

The project also involves replacing stormwater infrastructure, water mains, kerb and gutter and extending the concrete median.

Traffic control will be in place and commuters should allow extra time to travel through the area.

Why: To improve safety and adapt to sea level rise.

When: February to December 2020, weather permitting

Belowra, Belowra Road

What: Rebuilding Belowra Bridge.

The temporary side access track will remain open during works.

Why: To restore permanent access and increase resilience.

Broulee, Captain Oldrey Reserve

What: Constructing a new sewage pumping station and rising main.

The rising main will be installed through Captain Oldrey Reserve and to the new pump station site in on private property to the west.

Reserve users can expect increased vehicle movements. Interruption to local sporting activities is not expected.

Why: To allow for development and transport sewage to the Tomakin Sewage Treatment Plant.

When: March 2020 to July 2021, weather permitting

Deua River Valley, Araluen Road

What: Stabilising the roadside slopes at various locations along the road.

The road is closed to through traffic and commuters may experience long delays for up to a few hours.

Why: To restore the batters damaged during the July and August floods. Loose material will be removed to re-establish stable roadsides.

When: October 2020 until work is complete

Deua River Valley, Araluen Road - Bradburys Bridge

What: Rebuilding Bradburys Bridge.

The road will be impassable for the duration of works.

Why: To restore permanent access and improve resilience.

Eurobodalla, Eurobodalla Road

What: Rebuilding Reedy Creek and Peach Tree bridges.

The temporary side access tracks will remain open during works.

Why: To restore permanent access and improve resilience.

Guerilla Bay, Burrewarra Point

What: Building a viewing platform.

Why: To improve safety, protect the environment and enhance low impact activities.

This is an identified action in Recreation and Open Space Strategy 2018

When: September to December 2020

Malua Bay, Mulgowrie Street

What: Rebuilding a section of the road.

New stormwater drainage, kerb, gutter and road surface will be installed.

Residents and visitors will be able to access properties but the road will be closed to through traffic during works.

Why: To improve and maintain the road network.

When: August to December 2020

Merricumbene, Araluen Road

What: Building a new bridge alongside Codys Bridge.

Codys Bridge will remain open during works.

Mogo, Annett Street

What: Rebuilding a section of the road.

New stormwater drainage, kerb, gutter and road surface will be installed.

The road will be closed to through traffic during works. Pedestrians access will be maintained.

Why: To improve and maintain the road network.

Moruya, George Bass Drive

What: Building a new access road to service the airport.

The road will operating under traffic control and commuters should allow extra time to travel through the area.

Why: To provide access to the new western subdivision.

Moruya, Gundary Oval

What: Providing new amenities building.

Why: To improve player comfort. The work is a priority action identified in the Recreation and Open Space Strategy 2018.

When: August 2020 to February 2021

Moruya, South Head Road

What: Widening a section of the road, patchng the pavement and levelling the side of the road.

The area on the southern side of the road between Keightley Street and Congo Road is being prepared for the next section of shared pathway.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters should expect delays.

Individual residents will be notified if access to properties will be affected.

Why: To improve safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

When: December 2020, weather permitting.

Narooma, Bill Smyth Oval

What: Improving field lighting, extending the amenities building and resurfacing the tennis courts.

Why: To improve playability, player comfort and privacy.

When: Lighting and amenities (October to December 2020), tennis courts (9 to 22 November 2020)

Nerrigundah, Gulph Creek Bridge

What: Rebuilding the bridge damaged by bushfire.

Nerrigundah Mountain Road will be closed while the old bridge is demolished and the new bridge is built.

Why: To increase resilience of our bridges.

When: July to October 2020

Potato Point, Potato Point Road

What: Constructing a sewage pump station, sewer rising main and water main.

Commuters should expect heavy machinery to be active along the road.

Why: To provide reticulated sewage infrastructure for Potato Point significantly reducing the risk of harm to the environment and public health.

Sunshine Bay, Caseys Beach

What: Upgrading the Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) in Sunshine Bay at the southern end of Caseys Beach.

Access to the car park will be limited and the public toilets will be closed.

Why: To ensure greater reliability of the local sewerage infrastructure.

When: July 2020 to February 2021

Tomakin, Tomakin Road

What: Upgrading a 1.4km section of the road east of Dunns Creek Road.

Why: To improve road safety, drainage and property access.

The road will operating under traffic control and commuters should allow extra time to travel through the area.

When: September to December 2020, weather permitting.
