Current works

Completion timeframes of current works listed below are subject to weather conditions and bushfire activity.

We will make every effort to minimise disruptions to traffic, parking and pedestrians during work times.

To help work run as smoothly as possible, we ask pedestrians and motorists to follow any signage and traffic control measures.

Shire-wide, bridges

What: Repairing or rebuilding 18 bridges affected by bushfire.

Some bridges will be repaired or replaced with timber while others are being rebuilt using concrete.

Geotechnical investigations are currently underway at 10 fire affected bridges. Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters may experience minor delays.

Why: To provide safe access to all communities.

Shire-wide, maintenance

What: Clearing roads affected by bushfire.

Our maintenance crews are working to maintain safe access to rural and urban areas throughout the shire.

Work involves removing debris and dangerous fire-affected trees from Council-maintained sections of roads.

Why: To provide safe access to properties.

When: December 2019 until works are complete.

Shire-wide, rural roads

What: Maintenance grading and gravel re-sheeting various unsealed roads in the shire.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters may experience short delays.

Why: To maintain the roads to a reasonable level.

Batemans Bay, Beach Road

What: Rebuilding the road and pathways between Club Catalina and Batemans Bay Marina.

Scheduled night works: Tuesday to Friday, 9 to 12 June 2020 to asphalt the road between Raine & Horne and Club Catalina. Works will begin from 6pm each night and are expected to finish by 7am the following day.

The project also involves replacing stormwater infrastructure, water mains, kerb and gutter and extending the concrete median.

Traffic control will be in place and commuters should allow extra time to travel through the area. Work will be done on one side of the road at a time to minimise the impact on traffic.

Why: To improve safety and adapt to sea level rise.

Broulee, Captain Oldrey Reserve

What: Construction a new sewage pumping station and rising main.

The rising main will be installed through Captain Oldrey Reserve and to the new pump station site in on private property to the west.

Reserve users can expect increased vehicle movements. Interruption to local sporting activities is not expected.

Why: To allow for development and transport sewage to the Tomakin Sewage Treatment Plant.

Broulee, Heath Street Reserve

What: Landscaping and installing two new picnic tables and a shelter.

Why: To ensure this public recreation space is an inviting and safe place to visit.

When: May 2020, weather permitting.

Long Beach, Sandy Place Reserve

What: Constructing a recreation park and playground.

We will be installing a new playground, basketball half-court, street workout equipment and a loop track.

Why: To renew and upgrade the recreation space in line with the Recreation and Open Space Strategy.

When: June to August 2020, weather permitting.

Malua Bay, Dunns Creek Road

What: Upgrading 4.35 km of Dunns Creek Road from The Ridge Road to Woodlands Road.

Why: To improve road safety for motorists and cyclists.

The road will be closed to through traffic from 1.4km south of The Ridge Road, from late May for three months while a 700m section of the road is rebuilt. Commuters will be able to access Dunns Creek Road from either end but will not be able to pass through the construction site.

When: October 2019 to October 2021, weather permitting.

Moruya, Queen Street

What: Road resurfacing between Princes Highway and Ford Street.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters will be detoured around the worksite via Church Street and Ford Street. Access through Queen Street will only be available to emergency services, residents and businesses requiring deliveries.

Why: To maintain the road to a reasonable level.

When: From 7am and 4pm on Sunday 31 May and Tuesday 2 June 2020.

Moruya, South Head Road

What: Levelling the area on the southern side of the road between Keightley Street and Congo Road.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters should expect minor delays.

Individual residents will be notified if access to properties will be affected.

Why: To prepare the area for the next section of shared pathway.

When: May to July 2020, weather permitting.

Mossy Point & Tomakin, George Bass Drive

What: Installing a new sewer main from Broulee to Tomakin.

The pipe will be installed on the western side of the road in the grass area between Candlagan Creek and Tomaga River.

Traffic control measures will be in place and commuters should expect minor delays.

Why: To accommodate future development and to reduce the risk to the environment.

When: May to June 2020, weather permitting.

Narooma, Mill Bay Boat Ramp

What: Rebuilding the rock wall and extending the boat ramp.

Why: To allow enough water under boats while loading and unloading at dead low tides.

Occasionally the boat ramp will be closed so boaters should be prepared to use Apex Park boat ramp approximately 500m away.

Parking at the boat ramp may be restricted at times.

Narooma, Old Highway

What: Renewing the water mains and rebuilding a section of the road.

New stormwater drainage, kerb, gutter and road surface will be installed once the water mains are replaced.

Individual residents will be notified if access to properties will be affected.

Why: To improve and maintain the road network.

When: March to June 2020, weather permitting.

Nelligen Wharf

What: Nelligen Wharf will be closed for two weeks to enable necessary repairs.

Work includes the removal and replacement of the deck and supporting structures.

Why: To improve the safety and lengthen the lifespan of the wharf.

When: 25 May to 5 June 2020, weather permitting.

Nerrigundah, Comans Bridge

What: Rebuilding the bridge destroyed by bushfire.

Why: To restore safe access along Comans Road.

Potato Point

What: Renewing the water mains infrastructure throughout the village. Approximately 3.3km of water mains will be replaced prior to installation of the new sewerage mains.

Residents will be notified if water supply to properties will be interrupted.

Why: To ensure greater reliability of supply to the community.

Rosedale Footbridge

What: Rebuilding the footbridge affected by bushfire.

Why: To restore safe pedestrian access across Saltwater Creek.

Tuross Head, Trafalgar Road

What: Renewing the water mains and rebuilding a section of the road.

New stormwater drainage, kerb, gutter and road surface will be installed once the water mains are replaced.

Residents will be able to access their properties but the road will be closed to other traffic from mid-February.

Why: To improve and maintain the road network.
