Patricia Hellier - 27 March 2018

Patricia Hellier made the below comments at the Ordinary Council Meeting 27 March 2018.

Public Access Tuesday 27th March 2018 Patricia Hellier from North Batemans Bay.

Good morning everyone and thank you for your time this morning. I am here today to see if I can get some clarity in relation to the car park area at MacKay Park and the old Bowling Club site.

There are rumours in the community that our Local Member has stated that he wants Bulldozers on the Bowling Club site no later than March 2019.

This weekend due to a sporting activity the car park area was full of cars, motor homes, caravans etc. many using the car park for an overnight stopover area as this was a two day event.

The question I have is what is going to happen in 12 months if this car park is full of the very large heavy machinery that will be required for the construction of this bridge. Those who have travelled north when the Burrill Lake Bridge was being build will understand the size of the equipment that was required for that job therefore the size and time frame for the proposed bridge in Batemans Bay will be enormous.

Will this car park area be available for the regular activities conducted on MacKay Park.

Thank you

Council's reply

I can confirm, the car park outside of the lease area requested by the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will be available for public car parking for regular activities conducted at the precinct. RMS have also indicated they will use part of the lease area for public car parking too.
