High fire standards protect Garden’s new centre
Tuesday 7 January 2020
Bushfire has devastated large parts of Eurobodalla, including in and around Mogo. Although fire swept through the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden last week, the most recently constructed and renovated building survived intact.
The new building – including visitor centre, herbarium, café and education hub – was constructed to high fire standards, using selected hardwoods, with these conditions in mind. The building was handed over to ERBG Manager Michael Anlezark on Friday 20 December and has yet to be officially opened.
There has been extensive fire to the grounds. Other damage will be assessed as soon as it is safe to do so and resources permit. For safety reasons, the site will remain closed to the public and volunteers until further notice.
