More cruise ships to sail into Batemans Bay

Eurobodalla will welcome passengers from luxury cruise ship Seabourn Sojourn tomorrow, Wednesday 12 December, when it anchors off Batemans Bay.
It’s part of a growing itinerary of cruise ships visiting Batemans Bay thanks to a partnership between Eurobodalla Council’s tourism team and the Ports Authority of NSW.
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes said a further three cruise ships were set to visit Batemans Bay for the 2019/20 cruise season – the Caledonian Sky in October 2019, and the Seabourn Encore in February and March 2020.
“Our tourism team and the Ports Authority of NSW have been working hard to attract these incredible opportunities for our shire,” she said.
“Batemans Bay is being promoted to expedition and luxury cruise liners as the best port for access to Canberra, with amazing nature and aquatic experiences, and it’s the only regional NSW port where tenders arrive in the CBD within walking distance to town’s attractions.”
The Seabourn Sojourn, on its maiden visit to Batemans Bay, is carrying up to 450 passengers – mostly international visitors from USA, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe – as well as more than 330 crew.
Batemans Bay is the first port-of-call on its 36-night itinerary around the Australian coastline and Indonesia.
Tenders carrying up to 90 visitors will arrive onshore from 7.30am. They will embark on activities including cruising the Clyde River, visiting Mogo and its attractions, tour to Canberra and visiting the Batemans Bay CBD.
Clr Innes said Council would hold a pop-up visitors centre on the Clyde River foreshore to welcome the passengers.
“This is really exciting for our shire and I encourage our community to make these visitors feel welcome,” Clr Innes said.
“We’ll continue to work with the Ports Authority of NSW to attract these wonderful opportunities to our shire.”
