Nominations open for 2019 Local Hero Awards
Monday 1 April 2019
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes is calling on residents to nominate the shire’s unsung heroes for this year’s Local Hero Awards.
Introduced by Eurobodalla Council in 2018, the Local Hero Awards recognise Eurobodalla residents who make outstanding contributions to the community.
Clr Innes encouraged residents to nominate Eurobodalla’s worthy citizens, whether it be friends, neighbours, colleagues, fellow volunteers, or community leaders.
“What makes our shire such an incredible place to live is its beautiful people,” she said.
“We all know someone who goes above and beyond, who selflessly puts others before themselves, or who gives up their time for the betterment of our community,” she said.
“We want to recognise these unsung heroes and celebrate their wonderful contributions that help make Eurobodalla an even better place to live.”
Nominees may have provided outstanding service in any field; such as sports, community service, health, education, arts and/or the environment, or excelled in service to the community. They may be responsible for individual acts of compassion, generosity, bravery, ingenuity, or have had exceptional professional accomplishments.
Broulee’s Lindsay Boyton was named Eurobodalla’s first Local Hero last year. Heavily involved in various community groups, Mr Boyton was described as the “go-to man” for everything, from applying for government grants and setting up websites and social media to being handy on the tools and baking the “the best” apple turnovers.
Nominations close Friday 3 May 2019.
