Community Engagement Framework and Participation Plan
Community engagement encompasses a spectrum of activities, ranging from everyday informal discussions, contact with stakeholders during service delivery, group discussions or meetings and formal consultation processes, through to Council supporting community members in taking action on issues themselves.
The Eurobodalla Shire Council Community Engagement Framework has been designed as a tool for those at Council who have an interest in and responsibility for coordinating, planning, designing, implementing and evaluating community engagement activities. It provides guidance for the conduct of best practice and includes Council's Community Engagement Charter.
As a result of changes in planning legislation (Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979) Council is required to have a Community Participation Plan (CPP) or incorporate the CPP requirements into an existing engagement plan. The purpose of a CPP is to provide a single document explaining how and when Council will engage the community across its planning functions.
Council elected to update the Community Engagement Framework and incorporate the requirements of a CPP into the revised plan. The revised plan is called the Community Engagement Framework and Participation Plan and was adopted by Council on 26 November 2019.
