About the Director Planning and Sustainability Services

Lindsay Usher

As Director of Planning and Sustainability Services, Lindsay is responsible for:

  • Waste services: landfill and transfer station operations, landfill and transfer station infrastructure improvements and capital works, domestic waste, recycling and garden organics collection, waste minimisation and education
  • Strategy and sustainable growth services: land-use planning, coastal and floodplain management, natural environment planning, heritage planning, tourism and events, business development
  • Development services: development assessment, building certification, development engineering, development support
  • Environmental services: rangers, public and environmental health and compliance, sustainability, natural resource management.

In total, there are 87 staff employed in the Planning and Sustainability Services Division of Council.

Employment experience

Lindsay has over 20 years' experience in the public sector. Having worked at a senior management level in both local and State Government, Lindsay brings broad experience, knowledge and skills to his role as the Director of Planning and Sustainability Services.

Prior to joining Eurobodalla Shire Council in April 2008, Lindsay was a Regional Director with the NSW Department of Planning and worked with councils in the central west, far west and New England regions of the State.


Lindsay attained a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, in addition to a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management, from the University of New England, Armidale.


Lindsay is an active member of the local community and is involved in supporting junior sporting teams by engaging in various coaching, mentoring and committee roles.
