Temporary road closures allow road works or community events to be conducted safely. While the road is closed, motorists and pedestrians must follow the directions of authorised traffic controllers.

Road closures may be affected by weather conditions or bush fire.

Scheduled and ongoing road closures

Araluen Road, Merricumbene

  • closed until further notice

A landslide has occurred on Araluen Road, 43km west of Moruya, near the shire boundary. The road is impassable approximately 2km before Pigeon Gully Bridge.

The road is closed to all vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

Access to Araluen Road properties east of this landslide is only available from Moruya. The last property east of the landslide is 4277 Araluen Road. Access to Araluen Road west of this landslide is only available from Braidwood. The first property west of the landslide is 4329 Araluen Road.

Work is now underway to recover the road.

The road will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Detour via Kings Highway.

Congo Road, Congo

  • until further notice

The unsealed section of Congo Road (north) is closed where the road reserve ends at private land.

Commuters travelling to and from Congo will need to detour via Congo Road south and Bingie Road to access the Princes Highway.

School buses and emergency services cannot travel through the road closure.

Ford Street, Moruya | night works

  • 7pm to 1am, Sunday 11 to Thursday 15, December 2022, weather permitting.

Ford Street will be closed (at night) between the Princes Highway and Queen Street.

Car parks off Ford Street will remain accessible while local businesses are open. Detours will be in place and commuters should allow extra travel time.

During the day, Ford Street will be open and operate under traffic control with some restrictions in place.

The closure will allow a new asphalt road surface to be provided.

Illabunda Drive, Malua Bay

  • 8am to 4pm weekdays, until 23 December 2022, weather permitting

Illabunda Drive will be closed to through traffic between George Bass Drive and Merinda Street.

Commuters can use Mulgowrie Drive to access the other end of Illabunda Drive.

Residents, school buses and emergency services will be able to access properties within the road closure.

The closure will allow a section of the road to be rebuilt.

Nerrigundah Mountain Road, Nerrigundah

  • 7am to 4pm, Monday 5 to Thursday 8 December 2022, weather permitting

The road will be closed between Nerrigundah village and the Cadgee Mountain Road intersection.

Commuters to and from Nerrigundah will need to use Eurobodalla Road and Cadgee Mountain Road, adding 1.5km and less than five minutes to trips.

Nerrigundah Mountain Road will be open to traffic outside working hours for vehicles under 5 tonne.

The closure will allow for bulk gravel deliveries for roadworks between the village and the cemetery.

Train Street, Broulee

  • from 10am Thursday 8 December to 4pm Sunday 11 December 2022, weather permitting

Train Street will be closed to traffic between the roundabout and the Broulee Early Learning Centre.

Broulee access: Motorists wanting to enter Broulee will need to use Broulee Road to the south or Annetts Parade to the north.

Business area access: Commuters will be able to access businesses on Train Street however they will need to come from within Broulee, using Train Street from the east/seaside.

St Peter’s access: Commuters will need to enter Train Street from George Bass Drive to access the main entrance of the College.

Pedestrian access: Pedestrians will be able to use the footpath and nature strip along Train Street but may be directed around the work site as required.

The closure will allow installation of a pedestrian crossing.
