Temporary road closures allow road works or community events to be conducted safely. While the road is closed, motorists and pedestrians must follow the directions of authorised traffic controllers.
Road closures may be affected by weather conditions or bush fire.

Scheduled and ongoing road closures
Araluen Road, Merricumbene
- closed until further notice
A landslide has occurred on Araluen Road, 43km west of Moruya, near the shire boundary. The road is impassable approximately 2km before Pigeon Gully Bridge.
The road is closed to all vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
Access to Araluen Road properties east of this landslide is only available from Moruya. The last property east of the landslide is 4277 Araluen Road. Access to Araluen Road west of this landslide is only available from Braidwood. The first property west of the landslide is 4329 Araluen Road.
Work is now underway to recover the road.
The road will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Congo Road, Congo
- until further notice
The unsealed section of Congo Road (north) is closed where the road reserve ends at private land.
Commuters travelling to and from Congo will need to use Congo Road south and Bingie Road to access the Princes Highway.

Costin Street, Narooma
- 7am to 4pm weekdays, 30 January to 14 April 2023, weather permitting.
Costin Street is closed between the two connections with Loader Parade.
Residents and emergency services will be able to access properties within the road closure.
School buses will operate as per usual.
The closure will allow a section of the road to be rebuilt.
Illabunda Drive, Malua Bay
- 7am to 4pm weekdays, 30 January to 6 April 2023, weather permitting.
Illabunda Drive is closed to through traffic between George Bass Drive and Millamurra Street.
Residents, school buses and emergency services will be able to access properties within the road closure.
The closure will allow a section of the road to be rebuilt.
Sunpatch Parade, Tomakin
- 7am to 4pm weekdays, 14 February to 6 April 2023, weather permitting.
Sunpatch Parade will be closed between Sunfield Court and Parks Parade.
Detours will be in place. Commuters will need to use Ainslie Parade to access the southern end of Sunpatch Parade.
Residents and emergency services will be able to access properties within the road closure.
Buses will be permitted to pass through the area.
The closure will allow road works to be undertaken.
Wagonga Scenic Drive, Narooma
- 6 February to 26 May 2023, weather permitting
The is closed at Punkalla Bridge, just past Punkalla Tilba Road.
Commuters can access either side of the bridge but cannot pass through the work site. To access properties including and beyond 515 Wagonga Scenic Drive, commuters should use the northern end of Wagonga Scenic Drive via the Princes Highway, Kianga Forest Road and Box Cutting Road.
The road closure will allow the bridge to be rebuilt.

Wharf Street, Nelligen
- 21 February to 5 April 2023, weather permitting.
Wharf Street will be closed between the Kings Highway and Braidwood Street.
Commuters will need to use Reid Street and Braidwood Street to access Wharf Street.
The road closure will allow Wharf Street to be connected to the realigned highway to cater for the new bridge
