Free training is available for Eurobodalla residents to kickstart their career in events, hospitality or management.

An initiative of Eurobodalla Council’s Employment Revolution project, the training includes nationally-recognised competencies in event management through TAFE and practical work experience at two local events.

Eurobodalla Council’s Employment Revolution employment projects officer Amy Kovacs said the training was perfect for anyone interested in volunteering at local festivals and events or a future career in event management.

“Volunteering is a great way to get on-the-job experience and to get involved with your local community,” she said.

“The Crank it Up musical festival and classic car show is running in February, as well as the highly successful Youth Colour Run – and they need help.

“We ran a similar training program last year in partnership with the Currents live music festival. We had amazing feedback from participants that got to learn about working safely on an event site, providing information to visitors, directing event goers and supporting event activities.

“We now want to offer more people the opportunity to get involved in the community, upskill and have fun!”

To be eligible for the program you must live in Eurobodalla and not be enrolled in school. You must also be 17 – 24 years old or unemployed/underemployed or receiving a Commonwealth benefit and be available from Wednesday 9 February to Friday 11 February, on Saturday 19 February and on Saturday 26 February.
