Eurobodalla revs up for Log Book Run
Media release published: 28 August 2025
Tank full, snacks packed, and Ls in place – Eurobodalla’s inaugural Log Book Run is ready to roll.
On Sunday 21 September, learner drivers and their supervising mentors are invited to clock up needed driving hours, with plenty of sound advice to be had along the way. Eurobodalla Council’s Y drive officer Jessica Thomas says the Log Book Run is about turning nervous steering-wheel grips into confident blacktop cruising.
“Clocking up practice driving hours can be hard work,” Ms Thomas says.
“We’ve created a day out with learners testing a mix of the shire’s roads plus support for their supervisors too. Everyone gets a feed and you can even win a tank of fuel.”
The day kicks off from 10am at Moruya’s Riverside Park with free predeparture vehicle checks, optional breathalyser testing, and free food vouchers. Council’s road safety officer Katherine Buttsworth will also be on hand to assist both learners and mentors with all their road rule queries.
“Behind every L plate is someone learning to drive and events like this promote safety and solidarity. It’s a good reminder to all road users to be patient with our learners and give them space,” Ms Buttsworth says.
From Riverside Park participants can head north or south using mapped routes with a scenic mix of highway, secondary roads and gravel. Ms Thomas says it’s the kind of real-world experience that sees the logbook ticking over faster than the odometer.
“Along the way the learners have their P Plate Pilgrim Passport stamped to put them in the running for a tank of fuel,” Ms Thomas says.
“And you don’t have to stick to our designed routes either. It’s fine to freewheel a unique route.”.
The Eurobodalla Log Book Run is free but bookings essential by 4pm on Saturday 20 September. Supervising drivers are encouraged to explore Transport for NSW’s supervising learner drivers guides before the day to help everyone make the most of the event.
