Well here’s one way to deal with stress

Published: 26 September 2023

Eurobodalla libraries are welcoming Wellways' Joel Boucher next month to introduce cognitive behaviour therapy as a tool for dealing with stress.

While stress is a normal part of everyday life, cognitive behaviour therapy can help people harness stress and channel it for good. Mr Boucher likes to quote Chelsea Erieau, “Stress acts as an accelerator: it will push you either forward or back, but you can choose which direction”.

“How you respond to it can be beneficial or not,” Mr Boucher said.

Eurobodalla Libraries coordinator Samantha Fenton says the libraries will have resources on stress management available to loan at the events.

“You’ll also learn about NewAccess, a free and confidential metal health support program offering one-on-one coaching,” Ms Fenton said.

“It’s a great starting point for people who feel stressed, anxious or overwhelmed by everyday issues and is suitable for anyone over the age of 11.”

Joel Boucher will present at all three libraries for free as part of World Mental Health Day activities. Batemans Bay Library will hold a session on Tuesday 10 October, Narooma Library on Monday 16 October, and Moruya Library on Thursday 19 October.

Light refreshments will be served and bookings are essential. Find all the details of these and many other offerings on Eurobodalla Libraries' events webpage or call Moruya Library on 4474 1333.
