Earn while you learn: New apprenticeships now open
Media release published: 3 November 2025
In a massive win for the shire, Eurobodalla Council has secured funding for a major apprenticeship drive to help bolster essential skills in the region.
Thanks to the NSW Government’s Fresh Start program, Council is recruiting for apprentices in key service areas, including:
- nursery production
- electrical
- mechanics
- plant operation
- civil construction.
Transport and stormwater engineer James Thompson began his career as a cadet and valued the opportunity to apply university theory to real-world engineering projects.
“As a cadet, you’re given the chance to work on genuine engineering challenges. Whether it’s addressing specific community concerns or contributing behind the scenes on projects like road safety upgrades, making a real impact while still studying is incredibly rewarding.”
Manager of people and safety Trinity Ladmore, who also commenced her local government career as a cadet with Council, is inviting ambitious locals to take the next big step in their careers.
“It’s more than a job, it’s a career launchpad,” said Ms. Ladmore.
“Our apprentices train alongside highly experienced professionals, gain nationally recognised qualifications, and become the experts our community relies on.”
