Free webinar on building strong committees
Media release published: 31 October 2025
With winter sports wrapping up, new committees stepping in, and summer sports about to hit full swing - now’s the perfect time to get some ideas on how to make your club or community group successful.
Eurobodalla Council has teamed up with CLUBMAP to host a free 45-minute online webinar on Monday 17 November. The session will explore practical ways to recruit and retain more volunteers, access funding for paid volunteer roles, plan for succession, and set up the right structure so your club runs smoothly, with more people doing less.
Acting recreation development coordinator, Claudia Ferguson, said the webinar shares modern tips and tricks.
“It’s harder than ever to find helpers; volunteers are under more pressure and carrying bigger workloads than before. Too often the same few people end up doing most of the work which becomes inefficient - things get missed, members become unhappy, and volunteers feel unguided or rushed,” Ms Ferguson said.
“The CLUBMAPS team give valuable insights into how to refresh and strengthen your committee - the more volunteers you bring on, the lighter the load becomes and the stronger your club or group will be.”
“When clubs are strong, communities thrive - and it’s much easier to access funding for new ideas and improvements.”
Whether you’re part of a sports club, volunteer group, or thinking about joining a committee, Ms Ferguson said you’ll get a kick out of this webinar: “It covers the things you don’t usually learn when you first join a committee - it’s interactive, practical, and there’s plenty of time for questions at the end.”
“Open to everyone - not just sports clubs - this is a great opportunity for anyone keen to learn how to build successful committees and recruit more volunteers.”
