North Head Drive - road closed from next week

Published: 21 July 2025

We’re working to make North Head Drive safer by stabilising the steep slope beside the road, east of Quarry Park. This project includes major earthworks, widening the road, upgrading stormwater infrastructure and building new kerb and guttering.

Last week, we started earthworks while keeping one lane open. Unfortunately, we have found a large amount of weathered rock, particularly at the top of the batter. This means there is an increased risk of large rocks falling onto the road. Because of this safety risk, we need to fully close this section of North Head Drive to all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians, for the duration of these works.

Road closure details

Where: North Head Drive, east of Quarry Park for approximately 1.5km to property number 460

When: Monday, 28 July 2025, for approximately 3 months (during and after work hours)
