Background and purpose
The current strategy adopted in 2019 does not address contemporary issues that have changed the landscape of conducting business in Eurobodalla. The review aims to set an environment of certainty with a clear and specific areas of priority focus and detailed initiatives and actions.
The revised strategy will apply a shorter timeframe of five years to enable review and adaption in changing circumstances. It will better align with state and local government priorities to create ongoing invested interest and support for economic development initiatives in Eurobodalla.
The review is focusing on four draft pillars to address the wellbeing of Eurobodalla’s economy.
- Foundations – Do we have the services, products, workforce and infrastructure to support our community/residents?
- Sustainability – How do we embrace new opportunities available through a shift towards sustainability in mainstream business operations?
- Creative industries – We need to build a system that support entrepreneurial endeavour, shift to vibrancy and activation, plus create commercial opportunities for creative and innovative industries.
- A connected economy – encourage more business-2-business engagement, build connection with business support services, improve supply chains, digital literacy and connectivity, activate economic
Community engagement
We launched a community engagement webpage on the Our Eurobodalla site, featuring surveys for businesses, investors and residents as well as an industrial land audit designed to determine whether to determine if lack of land availability is preventing business growth.
We invited business owners, developers, investors, business support services, other key stakeholders and the community to share their ideas, experiences and aspirations to inform a revised strategy. The strategy will clearly articulate the support for economic development offered by Eurobodalla Shire Council.
During June, we opened online surveys and hosted drop-in sessions at the three local libraries.
