Eurobodalla: One Community, All Abilities

Eurobodalla Council is committed to creating a community where everyone can participate, connect and belong. We work with people with disability, their families and carers to make our services, spaces and programs are accessible, inclusive and welcoming for all.

We are working to:

  • review and update the current DIAP.
  • provide the community with a variety of opportunities to contribute including:

Benefits to the community:

We aim to deliver an updated DIAP that recognises the needs of the community and delivers services, spaces and programs that are accessible, inclusive and welcoming for all with:

  • greater understanding, respect and connection across our community
  • safer, more inclusive places to live, work and visit
  • more opportunities for people with disability to share their skills and take part in community life
  • smoother access to Council services and stronger participation for everyone.

Background and purpose

What the DIAP does+

Our DIAP guides Council and community partners to remove barriers, strengthen participation and promote inclusion. It ensures accessibility and equitable opportunities are considered in everything we plan, deliver and communicate across Eurobodalla.

Our DIAP framework+

Our four-year DIAP provides a clear roadmap for Council, helping us focus on access, participation and inclusion across services, spaces and programs. It aims to make a real difference, building on the work of the current DIAP.

Building on our plan+

Our DIAP builds on past achievements and community feedback, setting priorities to make practical, lasting improvements across the shire.

Our four focus areas are:

  • Create positive attitudes and behaviours – fostering respect, understanding and inclusion throughout our community.
  • Create accessible and liveable communities – improving access to public spaces, transport, facilities and recreational areas for everyone.
  • Support meaningful employment – encouraging inclusive workplaces and expanding opportunities for people of all abilities.
  • Improve access to our systems and processes – embedding accessibility into all Council operations and communications.

Accessibility in Eurobodalla+

From beach wheelchairs and accessible pathways to inclusive playgrounds, accessible toilets and welcoming community spaces, we’re working to make everyday life more accessible. Together with community and service partners, we’re building a region where everyone can participate, connect and thrive.

Community engagement

We've launched a community engagement webpage on Our Eurobodalla to gather input from everyone in our community. Using interactive tools including a community survey, we’re listening to people living with disability, families, carers, support workers and community members.

We will also be attending community events to hear experiences and ideas in person.

Project updates

November 2025

We are listening to our community to shape the DIAP by:

  • engaging the community using surveys, in-person and virtual sessions, interactive activities and workshops
  • gathering feedback from people with disability, service providers and community members
  • using insights to inform accessible, inclusive and meaningful actions in the new DIAP.

October 2025

We designed inclusive consultation to meet our community’s needs by:

  • meeting with the Disability Inclusion Advisory Committee to guide the consultation approach
  • co-designing survey questions with DIAC to ensure they are inclusive, accessible and relevant to all community cohorts
  • producing a consultation plan to engage and communicate effectively with the community.

August to September 2025

  • We reviewed the current DIAP to see what’s working and what needs improvement.
  • We mapped accessibility across Council spaces, services and communications.
  • We gathered local data and community insights to guide the new DIAP.
