Project details

A Creative Arts Strategy will help Council undertake actions to:

  • ensure inclusive access – making arts available to everyone through diverse programs and accessible spaces
  • boost the local economy – supporting creative jobs and partnerships with tourism, business, and education
  • strengthen community wellbeing and identity – celebrating local stories and culture, building pride and connection
  • encourage innovation and sustainability – embracing new ideas and exploring new models for long-term sustainability.

Background and purpose

The current Creative Arts Strategy was adopted in 2019. It set a clear vision for Eurobodalla to become known as the creative arts destination for southeast New South Wales with significant growth in creative arts infrastructure, programming, and audiences.

Since that time Eurobodalla has seen major developments in arts infrastructure, including the Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, the Yuin Theatre, the Clyde Gallery, the refurbishment of the Mechanics Institute, and the Narooma School of Art gallery build, which is currently underway.

The prioritised actions have all been successfully implemented.

Looking forward, our new strategy will pick up where the last one left off.

Community engagement

We've launched a community engagement webpage on the Our Eurobodalla site, featuring a suite of tools for gathering public input, which will be promoted via our Arts social media channels and monthly Arts Canvas e-newsletter.

We are gathering input from community at arts and cultural events.

Over October to November, we will be engaging with Council's advisory committees and relevant staff seeking their input.
