Housing Improvement Advisory Committee

The Housing and Improvement Advisory Committee will guide the delivery of Council's Housing Strategy 2025, providing advice to support more diverse, affordable, and sustainable housing outcomes in Eurobodalla.

The committee will advise Council about why it's important to have a variety of housing options that people can afford. It encourages housing choices and practices that make our region stronger and a better place for everyone to live.

Objectives

The committee will serve as a strategic, community, and industry-led advisory body that works in partnership with Council to deliver the goals and actions of the Eurobodalla Housing Strategy. It will:

  • provide a vital link between Council, housing providers, community organisations, and stakeholders by offering practical insight, coordinating engagement, and identifying opportunities that deliver positive, long-term outcomes for residents
  • advise on initiatives that enhance housing diversity, affordability, and accessibility, support innovative housing models, and encourage best practice in planning and design
  • encourage collaborative action to increase housing supply, improve housing outcomes for vulnerable groups, and promote sustainable, resilient communities
  • monitor progress against the Housing Strategy’s targets and actions and provide recommendations to Council for continuous improvement.

Terms of reference

The terms of reference outline the purpose of the committee. It includes how often the committee should meet, its representatives, delegations, and objectives.

Meetings

The committee is to meet a minimum of four times a year.

Members

  • A maximum of eight skills-based representatives from housing providers (including Aboriginal and social housing providers), advocacy groups, and relevant industry sectors.
  • One ex-officio representative from a regional housing or planning body (eg, Southern NSW Housing Partnership).
  • Councillor Colleen Turner as Chair and Councillor Mick Johnson as alternate Chair.
  • Two ex-officio Council staff.
