Nominating a heritage item
Use this page to learn how to nominate a place, building, object, or area for heritage listing in Eurobodalla Shire, NSW. Your nomination can help protect Eurobodalla’s history, culture, and special places for future generations.
What heritage listing means
In NSW, there are two main types of heritage listings: heritage items and conservation areas. A heritage listing shows that a place, building, object, or area is important to our history, culture, or environment. It also helps ensure the item is protected and looked after for the future.

Heritage listing criteria
You can nominate a local item, place, or area in Eurobodalla for listing on the State Heritage Inventory if it meets two or more of these criteria:
- It is an important part of Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural history.
- It is linked to the life or work of a person or group who is important in Eurobodalla’s history.
- It shows special design, beauty, or a high level of skill or creativity.
- It has a strong connection to a Eurobodalla community or cultural group for social, cultural, or spiritual reasons.
- It can provide new information that helps us understand Eurobodalla's history or environment.
- It has rare or endangered features of Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural history.
- It is a strong example of a type of place or environment found in Eurobodalla.
Council does not leave an item out of the State Heritage Inventory just because a similar item is already listed, if it still meets the criteria.
Eurobodalla Shire Council and the Heritage Advisory Committee review nominations and consider whether to list them on the State Heritage Inventory.
