Nominating an item or area for heritage listing
A local item, place, or area can be nominated for listing on the State Heritage Inventory (SHI) if it meets certain criteria. Council and its Heritage Advisory Committee will review nominations to consider listing on the SHI.
Assessment criteria
The nominated item, place, or area must meet one or more of these criteria. The item:
- is important in the course or pattern of Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural history
- has strong or special association with the life or works of a person or group of people of importance in Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural history
- is important in demonstrating aesthetic characteristics or a high degree of creative or technical achievement in Eurobodalla
- has strong or special association with a particular community or cultural group in Eurobodalla for social, cultural, or spiritual reasons
- has potential to yield information that will contribute to an understanding of Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural history
- has uncommon, rare, or endangered aspects of the Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural history
- is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a class of Eurobodalla’s cultural or natural places or environments.
An item should not be excluded from the SHI because it has similar characteristics to a listed item.
